Miller was trained under the RAD method by Patricia Cairns from the
Royal Ballet in Tacoma, Washington. While still a student, she was awarded
the "Best in Ballet" prize at the Pacific Northwest Competition held in
Vancouver, B.C. At the age of 16 she was personally selected by Robert
Joffrey to join his special New York apprentice program during which she
trained and performed with the Joffrey Ballet and the New York City Opera.
From that beginning, Miss Miller has performed principal roles in this
country and around the world with the ballet companies of Grand Theatre
du Geneve in Switzerland, Ballet Contemporaneo in Caracas, Venezuela as
well as the Milwaukee Ballet, Eglevsky Ballet and Dance Dimensions in
the United States, to name a few. Miss Miller has also appeared in principal roles for Walt Disney Productions, Radio City Music Hall and performed in the musicals "Showboat" and "Oklahoma". During her ballet career, she has performed principal roles in many of the great classics - Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Nutcracker, Coppelia, Don Quixote Pas de Deux, Le Corsair Pas de Deux, Spring Waters, Les Sylphides, La Fille Mal Gardee, Paquita, Raymonda, Pas de Quatre, Grand Pas Classique, Graduation Ball and Cinderella. She has also danced in several Balanchine ballets and has performed in many contemporary works as well, and worked with leading choreographers such as - Anna Sokolow, John Butler, Antony Tudor, Hector Zaraspe, Robert Joffrey and Gerald Arpino, Enrique Martinez of American Ballet Theatre, Michael Lland of American Ballet Theatre, Frederick Franklin of the Washington Ballet, Larry Rhodes of Harkness Ballet and Peter Franklin White of the Royal Ballet. Besides classical and contemporary ballet, Miss Miller broadened her technique with tap and jazz and has worked with dance personalities such as Ronnie Lewis, Peter Gennaro, Tommy Hanson, Miriam Nelson and Todd Bolander. She has also appeared in concerts at Lincoln Center, numerous TV specials in Europe and in the United States and in national TV commercials. In addition, Miss Miller's professional life has included choreography, adagio dance team work, theatrical ballroom dance team work on cruise ships, teaching and coaching in Connecticut and in the New York area. In New York City, she has taught for Steps, Dance Space, Peridance and is currently teaching for Ballet Arts at City Center. In addition to her schedule of public classes, she teaches and coaches privately from the beginning through the professional level. Miss Miller just dedicated three years to creating and producing two video tapes on the fundamentals of ballet. |
